Your journey begins with a pickup from Haridwar or Rishikesh in the early morning. From here, you will embark on a scenic drive of approximately 200 km, taking around 9–10 hours to reach Barkot or Kharadi. During the journey, witness the mesmerizing natural beauty, lush green landscapes, and rolling hills that characterize this region. The drive will take you through quaint villages, serene valleys, and alongside the holy Ganges river, offering a spiritually uplifting start to your yatra. Upon arrival at Barkot or Kharadi, check into your accommodation for the night. Rest and prepare for the trek to Yamunotri the following day.
Begin your day with a long drive from Uttarkashi, Gangori, or Netala to Guptkashi, Phata, or Sonprayag, covering a distance of 270 km in around 10–11 hours. This journey takes you deeper into the Himalayan landscape, with stunning views of cascading waterfalls, dense forests, and majestic peaks along the way. Guptkashi is renowned for its religious importance, home to temples like Vishwanath Temple and Ardhnarishwar Temple. Once you arrive, settle into your accommodation and prepare for the upcoming trek to Kedarnath. Overnight stay at Guptkashi, Phata, or Sonprayag.
You will travel around 35 kilometres by bus on this day, followed by approximately 17 km of hiking.
The bus is scheduled to leave at 6 am and reach Gaurikund at approximately 9 am. Another option is to rent a doli (palanquin) or ride a pony. You will leave Gaurikund at 10 a.m. and arrive in Kedarnath around 5 p.m.At the Kedarnath temple, you can watch the nightly aarti, or divine ceremony, before going to bed.
To ensure you have enough time to pray at the temple of Kedarnath, leave your hotel early. After breakfast and prayers, you will begin the 17-kilometer hike back to Gaurikund. Another option is to rent a doli or ride a pony. Around 1 pm, you will reach Gaurikund/Rampur. Following lunch, you will board the bus and travel the approximately 60 kilometres to Tilwara. By 5 p.m., you will arrive in Tilwara and stop for the night.
